howto: track individual pages by IP

Posted by phillipu [April 9, 2004]

I have been asked to show several reports of site usage broken down by IP address, and show the pages that were accessed by that IP.

I see where I can show the totals for "Page views by IP", but I need to see exactly which pages were accessed by that IP and the number of times each page was accessed.

if you have IIS 5.1, try enabling tracking in the IIS snap-in. you can view anyone's IP that accessed your pages in a log file. just open it in notepad or something, it should show you where the log files are located.

nightmareinc515, I *could* do as you suggested, but I did post this to the Metatraffic forum for a reason, I need to have this functionality IN Metatraffic, what sense does it make to use a tool like Metatraffic only to be told to search thru logfiles?, c'mon.

I would like to know if others had or do currently have a need such as this, it does not seem unreasonable to need to extrapolate info by IP, mind you, this is at the request of the "Marketing Types" who really need things spelled out for them.

Is something like this slated for Metatraffic v2?

I can't remember anyone saying they've already done it, but it's been suggested a couple times in the Requested features forum here.

I think it's a grand idea, at least for those IP's that can maintain state during the visit (most everyone but AOL cunstomers, I think).
