Opera + Colour depth

Posted by ianh [October 21, 2004]

MT does not appear to recognise visits by Opera, with it set to identify as Opera or IE6 (not tried Mozilla).

I'm wanting to use MT on a number of european sites where use of Opera is worth monitoring.

Additionally, whilst it's not by any means as important as it used to be, it would still be good to capture users colour depth, which should be possible.

Opera + Colour depth

Hi,

In my tests, Opera DOES detect correctlyt when set to the default (identify as IE 6) but is detected incorrectly as Mozilla 1 when Opera is set as the Opera user agent. This will be fixed in version 2.03.

Color depth is probably not going to be added in the near future. Although I do get asked about it from time to time, it is a lower priority then several other features ahead of it.

Just tried again with Opera to make sure I hadn't missed it first time around. Can confirm it is not registering as IE6 in my stats, nor as Mozilla when set to identify as Opera.

I'm testing with Opera 7.51. Is the version likely to make any difference?

What version of MetaTraffic are you running?

When set to identify as IE 6, it detects it as Opera 7, which is the correct behaviour. Just tested it again and it works for me.

Using MTlite v2.02, downloaded last week.

Just been experimenting at a quite period on the site in question and can definitely confirm that Opera 7.51 is not being recognised, no matter what it is set to identify as. Using Opera doesn't even appear as 'being on-line'.

Tried with Opera 7.23. Same findings apply.

Also found that whilst Firefox 1.0 shows in the User Agents, it shows as Moz 1 in the browser list. Maybe this is correct.

Comparing the lists:

Browser list: IE6 x 13, Moz 1 x 3, IE5 x 1

User Agent List: IE6.0 x 13, IE5.5 x 1, Mozilla 5.0 x 2, Firefox 0.10 x 1
