MetaTraffic 2.0 Boxshot

Changing Page names to appear different

Posted by Mark [May 31, 2005]

Hi Chad,

Is it possible to change the page names in the Pages section from the ordinary /index.html or /directory_name/index.html to something else. For instance, when that /index.html is logged in Metatraffic's stat section, it's actually for my mail domain, such as http://mail.mydomain.com/index.html but when I scroll on top of that index.html in the Pages section it comes up showing: http://mydomain.com/index.html instead of http://mail.mydomain.com/index.html

I'm using Metatraffic's re-direct code to make the above happen.

For example, I'd like to have the following come up to look as the following when I click on the pages link:

BEFORE --> AFTER
/index.html --> Email Login Page

Having this wouldn't create any confusion as what pages have got the most/least hits.

It would be great to be able to modify the names manually, or if not possible to get it in the future releases.

I'm currently using 2.11 Pro, through ASP. Please let me know the possiblities.

Thanks,

Mark

Changing Page names to appear different

Hi Mark,

The problem is that MetaTraffic does not distinguish between hostnames/websites when it is logging, it only looks at directories and filenames. So this is not really possible in the current version because /index.html will be treated as the same page no matter what.

The only real solution is to track to different MetaTraffic installations.

We are looking into this issue for version 3, I don't really have an answer as to how it will be dealt with so any suggestions are appreciated.

Regards,
~Chad
