MetaTraffic 2.0 Boxshot

Google ad tracking

Posted by robnil [June 9, 2006]

I have noticed that Google ads its own trackingcode nowadays. Like this: &gclid=CLnCvP6WuYUCFTB5MAodshqbyA

Its neat to be able to use this code instead of setting your own. Unfortunatly the trackingstring is too long for MT. Where can I modify this to handle this trackercode?

You would need to make a couple modifications to the database changing the ca_code (campaigns table) and cl_ca_code (campaignlog table) fields to allow enough varchar length for the Google tracking code. In the clsLog.asp file, you would need to edit line 379 that says:

rsCampaign(1) = ProtectInsert(strCampaignCode, 12)

Change the 12 to whatever maximum length you need and this should allow your new tracking codes to not be truncated. If you change the campaign querystring name from mtc to glic, this should allow you to track the new Google tracking codes as campaigns. There may be additional changes required to edit long campaign codes in MetaTraffic's settings.
